Commitment – with distance: blood donation campaign at Lohmann in cooperation with the German Red Cross

Around 50 donors and a very special anniversary:
last Friday, the Lohmann company organized the first in-house blood donation campaign at its TEC Center in Neuwied together with the DRK Blood Donation Service West. Under corona conditions, with a hygiene concept and distance.

Twenty employees of the adhesive tape manufacturer donated blood for the first time – while colleague Peter Hilbich (Lohmann Works Council) celebrated his 100th blood donation, which he had saved up especially for the campaign at Lohmann, with a winking "O'zapft is!”

Germany-wide about 15,000 blood donations are needed on one day. "In our supply area from Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saarland, up to 3,500 are needed. Especially during the Corona pandemic, donations are more important than ever to ensure medical care," says Benjamin Albrecht, Deputy Head of Public Relations of the DRK Blood Donation Service West.

Lohmann Managing Director Dr. Carsten Herzhoff (CTO) did not miss the opportunity to support the campaign: He not only took a seat on a couch to donate blood, but also presented a check worth 1,500 euros to Frank Book from the Neuwied district association of the German Red Cross: "As one of the region's major employers, we have a social and societal responsibility. We are naturally happy to accept this responsibility and make our infrastructure and premises available for events such as today's. I am very pleased that the employees are taking part and supporting the German Red Cross," said Herzhoff.

The planning for regular follow-up appointments at Lohmann has already begun.
