Sustainability and innovation by tradition

Our responsibility for a sustainable future and our passion for innovative high-tech adhesive tapes are equally at the heart of "We make it green". Green goes hand in hand with sustainability and growth – an integral part of our identity for many years. Since our founding over 170 years ago, our development has been characterized by progress and innovative ideas, always taking sustainability aspects into account. The three pillars of ecology, economy and social responsibility are deeply rooted in our corporate culture and form the basis of our corporate strategy.

Our various high-tech adhesive solutions are the result of years of research and development. In the continuous further development of our technologies and products, meeting the individual requirements of our customers while at the same time acting in an energy-efficient manner that conserves resources and is safe for people and the environment is very important to us. In doing so, we take action along our entire value chain to reduce emissions and minimize our ecological footprint.

Lohmanns Mission Statement for Sustainability

As Bonding Engineers, we support our customers with expertise in the implementation of innovative and smart bonding solutions. In doing so, we influence the entire value chain, from the selection of raw materials to process integration at our customers. We are working ambitiously toward our globally valid goal of "climate neutrality by 2050," to which we are expressly committed. In many areas, this will be achieved much sooner - we are aiming for the year 2035.

Sustainability aspects such as the use of sustainable energy resources, the selection of ethically sound raw materials, efficiency, closed-loop recycling, waste avoidance and recycling are key elements of our internal processes. In coordination with our customers, we aim to leverage those potentials that lead to an optimized overall balance. We will continue to be involved in social projects in the future, because only broad participation in society can help us to jointly master the challenges of the future, both large and small.

Communication on Progress - United Nations Global Compact

Lohmann has reaffirmed its support for the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption with its sustainability report for fiscal year 2021. The well-being and, in particular, the safety of the more than 1,800 employees worldwide is a top priority at Lohmann. We strive to align our actions even more consistently with the three pillars ecology, economy and social responsibility and to make this transparent

In 2022, we joined the United Nations Global Compact to formalize our commitment to its core values in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption. This report, which is our first Communication on Progress, aims to reaffirm our commitment and describe our actions to integrate the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and day-to-day operations.

What we are working on

Sustainable Development Goals: Our Commitment to a Better Future

At Lohmann, we recognize that business has a profound responsibility to help build a healthier, more equitable, and sustainable future for all. In 2015, the United Nations established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to define global priorities and ambitions for improving lives, protecting our planet, and ensuring prosperity. These urgent and interconnected goals address issues such as poverty, hunger, health, education, climate change, environmental degradation, inequality, and justice.

We fully support the SDGs and are dedicated to advancing them through our business practices and partnerships. We believe that when businesses operate with accountability and intention to positively impact society and the environment, we can be a force for transformative change.
